Barkal is the oldest of the ten police stations of Rangamati district. During the British rule, it was built on the banks of the Karnaphuli river in 122 AD. This barkal police station / upazila is surrounded by small hills, shrubs and small rivers flowing along the banks of Karnafuli, the most open river in Bangladesh. Named after the Barkal nomenclature, there was a very large flowing fountain at this place on the Karnaphuli river. The sound of falling water could be heard far away. And when I heard the sound of this water, it seemed like there was a big instrument or call.As a result, the hill people who live in this place give it the name Barkal.
